Wavee

Wavee 0.2.1 — you can install it now

The first public build: a GPU-rendered Spotify client for Windows 11, one ~30 MB package with silent updates — and a Microsoft Store listing in certification.

Wavee is out. Not "in development, check back later" — you can install it today and it will quietly keep itself up to date.

Wavee — Home on Windows 11

If you're new here: Wavee is my Spotify client for Windows 11, for your own Premium account. It is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Spotify AB. What makes it different from the official app is the frame it runs in — FluentGpu, a from-scratch NativeAOT UI engine that renders everything on the GPU. The practical version of that sentence: the app opens in well under a second, the whole package is about 30 MB with no runtime to install, and a 10,000-row library scrolls at your display's refresh rate.

What you get

Home, Browse, Search and Charts in a native tabbed window. Artist pages with hero art and synced lyrics beside the player — syllable-level where Spotify has the data. Playlists that show their numbers: tempo, key, date added, recommendations. Liked Songs with weekly stats and tempo curves. Queue with autoplay and drag-reorder, Spotify Connect in both directions, podcasts, audiobooks, concerts near you.

And the official music videos, three ways: docked next to the queue, floating in a mini player, or in their own window.

How to install

Two paths:

  1. Direct download — grab the installer for x64 or ARM64 and open it. Windows App Installer installs the signed package, and updates apply silently on launch from then on.
  2. Microsoft Store — the listing is in certification as I write this. Once it clears, installing and updating through the Store is the zero-thought option.

You need Windows 11 (x64 or ARM64) and a Spotify Premium account — free accounts can't sign in, because Spotify's playback terms require Premium.

The road to 0.2.1

The last few weeks were a bugfix grind: sixteen findings from real machines, each root-caused rather than patched — tab activation, breadcrumbs, the search box flashing "no results", queue reorder becoming a playlist add, a verified-snapshot sync for Liked Songs that can prove your local library matches the server, lyrics quality filtering, a crash fixed by actually symbolicating a NativeAOT stack. Every release now ships its debug symbols, so the next offset-only crash report is a lookup instead of an archaeology project.

If you try it and something's off, open an issue — the findings folder is how 0.2.1 got good.
